1. Start with your project, not a “best company” label

A contractor suitable for a kitchen renovation may not have the same team or experience needed for a commercial building or road project. Before comparing companies, write down the location, type of work, approximate area, intended use, target schedule and budget range.

For a home in Ranchi, explain whether you need a complete build, structural alterations, finishing work or one service such as waterproofing or painting. For a project elsewhere in Jharkhand, confirm site coverage, supervision and transport arrangements before discussing a start date.

2. Know who is responsible for engineering and site work
